Prologis will develop a 23,000 square meter distribution center facility in Hünxe, a municipality in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The facility will be used by an international beverage company that is an existing Prologis customer in a variety of markets worldwide. The building is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2020.
This new location near Düsseldorf provides the beverage manufacturer with space for further growth. “Our customer chose this property for a number of important reasons: Amongst others, the central location near Düsseldorf and the excellent connections to densely populated areas such as the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region and the Netherlands were crucial,” said Philipp Feige, vice president, market officer, Prologis Germany. In addition, Hünxe is conveniently located for the beverage producer’s customers and is close to other company locations, which means Hünxe can be easily integrated into its existing network.
Feige added: “The many successful projects we have carried out together over the years and our outstanding business relationship convinced this existing client to choose Prologis yet again. We are especially delighted that we were able to quickly offer our client a suitable space at our existing park. Our access to the property and our experience at the site will allow us to implement the project quickly and according to their specific requirements.” Prologis is collaborating with various regional companies on the development of the logistics facility through its general contractor.
Focus on Sustainability
Sustainability is playing a major role in this development project. Prologis is aiming for a gold certificate from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). “The entire distribution center will be equipped with energy-efficient LED lighting,” Feige noted. “In addition, we are creating habitats for the animals that live on the property—specifically, special areas for indigenous reptiles and amphibians.
Prologis Park Hünxe comprises some 65,500 square meters of logistics space and is located in the IGP Hünxe, an industrial and business park in Hünxe. With its location near the A3, A59, and A31 highways, the location is ideally suited for the distribution of goods throughout Germany and the Benelux.
