Düsseldorf (October 16, 2017) – Prologis, Inc., the global leader in logistics real estate, today executed a lease agreement with Borchers NordWest Warehousing Solutions GmbH for a logistics building with approximately 17,800 square meters in Hamm. With Umarex renting the remaining 5,700 square meters, the logistics park in Hamm was fully let upon its completion.
The facility is located at InlogParc in Hamm-Bönen, Germany, and was completed by 30 September 2017. Both rental contracts come into force on 1 October 2017. From Hamm, Borchers will provide logistics services to its customers in the online retail and consumer and industrial goods sectors, while Umarex will run a logistics operation for its own products. Once Borchers and Umarex move in, Prologis will be responsible for the property management for the two facilities.
“We had gained new customers and were looking for a logistics facility within the greater area of Dortmund,” said Markus Rütters, managing director of Borchers Transportlogistik NordWest GmbH. “The new facility from Prologis exactly meets our expectations and offers us the best conditions to fulfill our customers’ requirements.”
“The contracts with Borchers and Umarex confirm that we made the right decision to build speculatively in Hamm,” said Philipp Feige, vice president, market officer Germany at Prologis. “We have leased the entire logistics park before its completion.” Construction of the property, which measures approximately 35,000 square meters in total, started at the end of 2016. In summer 2017 an international logistics service provider commissioned 11,500 square meters of distribution and office space for an existing customer’s Germany-wide contract logistics.
The new facility is fitted with a total of 56 ramps and six ground-level gates on both sides with an overhead clearance of 12.2 meters, and floors that can handle seven tonnes per square meter. The park also includes sustainable features, such as LED lighting, roof dome lights and continuous strip windows for efficient use of available daylight. Prologis is working on attaining the gold certificate issued by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) for the park.
Thanks to its convenient location in the Ruhr district, the facility offers direct access to a number of urban centres with high production rates. The property also has an ideal connection to the A2 and A1 motorways, and resident companies can use the container terminal at the nearby ‘Am Mersch’ industrial estate.
